Minister for education hails unique collaboration

Minister for education, Kristin Halvorsen opened the exhibition Building Modules at AHO on December 13th. The exhibition marks the start of the construction of Norway's first passive module.

The exhibition Build Modules displays passive house modules that have been designed during the fall semester by architecture students at AHO, in collaboration with students at HiOA’s masters courses in energy and environment in buildings. One of the modules, designed by AHO student Joan Pastor Ramon, is selected for construction. Pupils at the Sogn High School will build the module in the coming spring semester.

Enthusiastically Minister
Minister Kristin Halvorsen is very excited about the collaboration between architecture and building schools in Oslo.
- It is this kind of expertise we need in the future. I will come and visit you while you build the module, said the Minister.
Halvorsen emphasized that the construction industry is a key partner in the fight against climate change. Of planned measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions the build industry will account for 54%.

Interdisciplinary collaboration
The project consists of Lavenergiprogrammet, The Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO), Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences (HiOA), vocational education in Oslo and SINTEF, in collaboration with industry partners Indus, UCO, Temporent and Moelven.

During the exhibition opening Halvorsen received a key to the new passive module house.
- I will take good care of this. For I assume that this means that I can lock myself when I need to, said the minister.
